March 2019

Welcome to the seventh edition of the e-books for FE newsletter. We hope that you are enjoying the longer days and looking forward to the Easter break. This edition of the newsletter brings you the latest news and updates to the e-books for FE service, as well as special features and this month’s top 20 users and e-book titles. This month we are introducing a new feature in place of the Most used e-book of the month, and accepting that BTEC Level 3 National Health and Social Care: Student Book 1 is the most popular e-book every month! This will be replaced by Page-turner of the month, which will showcase the e-books that have had the biggest increases in usage each month.

As always, we value your feedback and suggestions – please email these to content.feandskills@jisc.ac.uk

New subject area

We are very excited to share that we have expanded the e-books for FE collection into Politics, with the addition of the brilliant Edexcel AS/A Level Politics Revision Guide & Workbook. The book covers all aspects of UK government and politics from political parties to pressure groups, as well as the politics ideologies that shape opinions and beliefs. The book is current (published November 2018) and gives clear, factual information about Brexit which is also brilliant for non-politics students who want to gain a better understanding of the current political climate – without the risk of fake news!

Well done to all organisations who reached a spot in the top 20, and a special congratulations to the top 5. The FE and skills team thank you for your promotion and use of e-books for FE. This month was extremely close at the top with just 44 user sessions between the top two! Congratulations to Varndean College who made the top spot for the second month running.

If any top 20 organisations have some tips to share on how you promote e-books for FE to teaching practitioners and learners, we would love to feature your college and showcase your work on promoting digital resources to your students. Please get in touch if you would like to be featured at content.feandskills@jisc.ac.uk
